Dennis Wambem has over 30 years of experience in university, public sector and private sector economic research and consulting. He has constructed models of employment location, regional and metropolitan economic and demographic change, and city and county fiscal analysis. He is experienced with the U.S. Census and other major economic and demographic data sources. He is proficient in computer programming and statistical and econometric techniques.
In 1995, Mr. Wambem founded Land Use Economics, a consulting practice specializing in environmental, land use development and urban and regional economics. He is currently working on a number of land use development projects throughout California involving fiscal, economic and financial analysis. He is also implementing projects in recycling market development and is working with California cities and counties to assure compliance of solid waste management practices with AB 939 (1989). Recent assignments have included recycling analysis for a major passenger airport; fiscal analysis for several annexations in Riverside County, California; land value economic analysis for a 24-acre parcel in Downtown Truckee; and economic and property value analysis for a master plan study for a major property holding of the State of California. Mr. Wambem is currently conducting independent research into the patterns and causes of downtown retail and services growth across 150 large cities throughout the United States.
Prior to establishing Land Use Economics, Mr. Wambem was for 14 years a founding principal of Stanley R. Hoffman Associates. During this time, he participated in and managed over 300 economic, fiscal and financial analyses for cities, counties and major development projects throughout California.
Prior to his work as a consultant, Mr. Wambem was the program manager for economic development for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), with emphasis in joint transportation/economic development projects, and regional employment projections. Prior to his work at SCAG, Mr. Wambem was senior planner at the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), specializing in regional and local economic and demographic projections and accompanying policy analyses.
Mr. Wambem's other experience includes cost-benefit analysis of alternative land use patterns at the Sonoma County Planning Department; and research into the health benefits of improved housing, conducted at the UCLA Graduate School of Management. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from UCLA and has taught economics and planning at Los Angeles City College and Sonoma State University.
Mr. Wambem is a member of the Regional
Science Association International and the Association of Environmental
Professionals. He often speaks at professional meetings, and
presents results of his research at academic and scholarly conferences.
