JOE O. HERNANDEZ

Joe O. Hernandez is a brilliant planning, development and political analyst, who has specialized in the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley in California and Mexico. His work in Mexico-US public and private sectors has been extensive, with important contacts and connections developed over the years. His work with elected officials at the local, state, federal and international levels has earned him the reputation as an important political advisor. He has dedicated himself to working with the minority community, including Hispanics, African-Americans and Native Americans. For many years Joe Hernandez distinguished himself with the Labor Movement, representing the Communications Workers of America in legislative affairs. He ultimately was appointed as field representative to US Senator John V. Tunney on behalf of the AFL-CIO.

Joe O. Hernandez has served as a consultant for the past 15 years, working on his own and with Bruce C. Daniels as BRUJOS & ASSOCIATES. Their collaboration first started while serving together with the County of Riverside Department of Housing and Community Development. They obtained Board of Supervisors approval to privatize their entire staff of 35 employees and contract out for services saving an estimated 25% in administrative costs.

Joe O. Hernandez and BRUJOS provided foreign trade consulting services to BP Industries, Riverside CA, a Korean import/export company. He facilitated trade opportunities with Mexican pineapple, cement, chicle and tomato paste industries. On a similar arrangement with Shasta Beef (Commerce, CA) -- a Japanese-American cattle raising, feedlot and slaughterhouse operation -- he negotiated agreements for the shipment of in-bond cattle with the Mexican and United States governments.

Other work with BRUJOS included planning and land development assistance for Brandenburg Productions, Inc. (San Jose, CA), The DiMare Company (Indio, CA), and Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians (Coachella, CA).

Joe O. Hernandez has provided direct consulting services for Norman Industries (Lake Elsinore, CA), a novelty manufacturer and import/export company, facilitating sales agreements with Mexican companies. He also has extensive consulting experience with engineering and planning firms in marketing contracts. They include: Metcalf & Eddy Engineering (San Diego, CA); URS Engineering (San Bernardino, CA); Holt Engineering (Palm Desert, CA); DEI Engineering (Phoenix, AZ) and the City of Coachella, CA.

Joe O. Hernandez' government service included 15 years the County of Riverside, including acting as Director of Housing & Community Development. He also served as Assistant to the City Administrator, City of San Bernardino.

Joe O. Hernandez has served as Chairman of the Planning Commission for the City of Coachella, CA. He received an AA degree from the College of the Desert, receiving the prestigious "Alumnus of the Year" award. He also received an AB degree from University of California at Riverside, majoring in Political Science.
